The fleur de lys indicates that we are located in the province of Quebec, Canada, and reminds us that Messines was the first municipality in the province to raise the "fleurdelysé" flag, in 1948.

The green fir trees represent the first arrivals in our region who were lumberjacks and lived off the forest.

The sickle and fork: after the lumberjacks, the first settlers began to clear the land for a living.

The boat: in parallel with the development of agriculture, we witnessed the establishment of several vacationers who came to take advantage of the large number of lakes found in the municipality and in the periphery.

The red flowers: these flowers are spirea. They were proclaimed the emblem of the parish of Messines, during the 75th anniversary celebrations.

The banner is located at the bottom of the coat of arms. It indicates the legal name of the municipality.
